Hi Everyone
Just thought i'd (on a purely selfish basis) start a thread for chippies in the Melbourne area because i keep asking single general questions on different threads and would like to try and get just one thread for all us us wood butchers to find out whats what, so, any info about anything to do with carpentry in the Melbourne area would be grately appreciated.
I'll start:
1/ You don't need a licence to trade in VIC.
2/ A Red card is needed to work on Union sites.
3/ You can't use 110V tools in Oz even with a Transformer plugged into an adaptor.
4/ Paslodes are readily available in Oz.

if any of the above is pants please say so and advise me & others.

I forgot to say if anyone is in the Melbourne region can they advise as to how easy it is to find work, what areas are best, what sort of wage are we looking at & is it best to try and find a mate to pair with.

Hi Pinny,

If there are any chippies in Melbourne, they'll be still in bed mate.

My OH is looking at retraining once we get there, probably towards the wood butchering area, so I'll be interested to see what answers you get to your questions ..... although I had to read it a few times to realise you were actually asking questions, not just informing people of some stuff you had figured out elsewhere.
