Ooooer Stoney,
did you see the bit at the bottom 1$ per brick, nice long runs and as a subbie it's an easy $700/800 a day even if it slumps a lot and goes down to 50c a brick still $350 a day.
Still an easy life on the books for $200 a day would be nice as well
good luck to you
Sean

Downside is profiteering on the Subcontactors behalf and land developers behalf is going straight into the house buyers hip pocket.

House prices are going beserk, Same house same street has doubled and trebled here in last 18 months.

Have not heard of anywhere near $1 brick in QLD. Price here is about $550 -600 a thousand with brickie supplying and paying all insurances and overheads. Still good money for Aus tho.

Not very good for anybody buying/building a house tho.

Similar demand for carpenters too, but as always here all qualifciations etc required.

Any brickies not going Perth? what this paper bull did not point out ex taxi drivers are getting trained up in 6 week courses by Mildland brick , come a down turn there will be an over supply of labour the builders will half what they pay .
Perth will have more brickies than it can handle , market forces my son , import labour until wages get leveled down its the Australian way.
My brickie mates are still laughing at the $1 a brick bollocks they are lucky to make a $900 a week and come winter can only work half a week because of rain , they are all self employed no work no pay.

PS There is a land grab prices are getting way of hand , new land is going to auction because of demand ,borrowing is getting higher to , watch the bust after the boom?

The last home we had built we had a brickie who had just had his wife walk out so he bought his young kid to work under school age ,took him 10 weeks to do what the builder said should be 4 weeks work .
The pad had more Mac wrapers on it that bricks , went Iasked if we could replace the guy , we were told sorry he going through a bad time and we must wait , cost us 6 weeks extra rent .

Now is the time for the locals to make a few extra quid above normal. Won't be long before its back to normal lean times.

Husbands brickie mate just commented on this one. $1 a Block not dollar a brick, a block is about 4 times the size of a brick. Reckons a good brickie could earn $ 200 day no trouble but laughed at the dollar a brick.

Asked our next door neighbour (self-employed brickie) what he reckons is the going rate per brick $1 or 50c - after he`d picked himself up off his chair and stopped laughing, he confirmed that around Brisbane going rate is 55c-60c per brick. Sydney pays $1 a brick at the moment, but then as he says, his house would cost around $3million in Sydney, so who`s complaining???
