The couple seemed really interested............very chatty. Cant understand these estate agents though...........why do they not give you feedback, whether good or bad. Even if they were to ring me to say they have not heard from them!!!

Definitely sounds as though you need to change agents. Good agents will give you feedback (sometimes rather too eagerly, as though they're just trying to justify their fee!)

We rather liked the Oz system of Open House. The seller books an hour or so's slot on a particular day (usually at the weekend) with the agent, then all interested parties have to turn up during that time. Of course individuals may book separate viewings later but at least you get the tyre-kickers (skirting-board-kickers?!) out of the way first.
The Open house system is quite common in the UK.
We went to one or two when we thought about moving a while ago.

Really? Never come across it. Maybe it's a regional thing.

Whereas it seems extremely common (in fact I might say the done thing) in Melbourne. We got house-itis looking at several on the trot. Kept on bumping into the same other viewers, too (surprise).

I think it may depend on whether an eastate agent can be bothered to organise it.
Under the usual arrangements it is usually the vendors who have to do all the 'hard' work
