Another tax file number question
I've got a non residents tfn from my previous travels in Oz.
When/if i get my PR visa do i apply to the tax office and get this change to a residents tfn?
Do i keep the same number?
Can i do this from outside of australia?
If not i was thinking of doing it when i goto validate my visa, but i won't have a permanent australian address, any tips about what to do for this?
Or should i just wait till i go over for good (just trying to get things done so there's less to do when i go over permanently)
Sorry for all the silly questions..... any advice/responses would be ace

Re: Another tax file number question
A TFN is for life, not just for Christmas.
Well, you know what I mean! Once you got one, you've got one (like National Insurance numbers in the UK).
I validated my visa last month and rang the ATO whilst I was there as I'd no idea what my TFN number was from when I was working out there in 1989 and they gave it to me without any drama.
Mind you, I'm not sure what you need to do so that they know you now need to fill in a return each year.....
