Amateur soccer leagues in Perth
Does anybody know if there are amateur soccer leagues in Perth (Similar to Sunday league in the UK)) and where I could find details of how to join a team. I'm figuring with this new healthier lifestyle (yeah right) I'll be having in Oz, it's about time I dug out the old footie boots and got back out there again. Please no time wasters with Aussie (No) Rules football, I don't mind watching it but there's not a chance I'm going to start playing it, then again after sunday league it's probably safer!

There is a sort of Sunday league, I remember reading in the Australian News about 3 years ago about a team of expats from Malaga in Perth who played in a league.
I don't think you'd like their strips if I remember right they played in Arsenal or Chelsea colours and not the Toons Black'n'White.
I don't have much of an interest in football but when driving around Perth you often see adverts for teams looking for players.

Will see how the Toon play tonight I may end up getting a game for them with all of their injury worries...
What part of Northumberland are you from? How was the transition to life in Perth? I was brought up in Cramlington, moved away whilst in the RAF, but am now in the wooly-backs near Alnwick, counting down the seconds before we head off to Perth at the end of June.

Hey,
I've just started playing for a team in perth. The season has just started.
We are based in Scarborough, send me a pm if you want to come training and i'll give you details.
As I understandf it over here saturday football is the best standard (semi pro)
on sundays you have amateur football, social football and vets football for over 35's.
We have 4 teams over these leagues and the standard is pretty good at first team level.
maybe see you at training!!

Thanks for the info Steve99 (sorry to hear about the Gunner thing mate! I'm sure with some professional help all is not lost.), I've been having quite a scour around the internet and have been in contact with Sorrento. Daft question, but is semi-pro in Australia the same level as semi-pro in the UK?
I've mainly played sunday league stuff (a decent standard, not the count how many teeth are missing afterwards type) in the past and I don't think my increase in age and decrease in fitness has done anything to warrant that big a jump up in standards.
I'm really looking forward to getting back into 11-a-side as this past year has been really busy with one thing or another and I've only managed to play 5-a-side once a week.
Good luck with getting going again and hope to be playing for/against you next season.
Tony.
PM enroute to you Tetley.
