Hi Kapri!

Glad im not the only one who has a mad 10 minutes :)

I think that was what i was trying to put across really. I mean, i just feel so frustrated living in the UK right now.

Both my boyfriend and I went to uni (about 30k of student loans between us), but we worked hard, both got 1st class degrees, moved to London as only place where we could get jobs easily really, and now we live in something that could only be described as a tin can, thats on a crossroads looking out on the traffic lights/very main road, but that is apparantly an 'excellent area'. Its just madness. We started looking at buying a property late last year, it got postponed and now everything is about 10k more expensive in the area!

So i think thats why i was really excited. Ooh i get all giddy thinking about it.

Anyway sorry for rambling on!

dont worry about that mug grayling. Keep living the dream, i am

I'm sure nobody would go just for a bigger house but it will be part of the decision for many.
I'm hoping for same size house, smaller mortgage personally. I'm also looking forward to better weather, meeting new people, having the experience of living abroad.

Not 100% sure we are now! Looked into it with rose tinted glasses but the more you delve you realise aus has a lot of the problems that the UK has, if not more. From reading aus news channels there is an awful lot of violent crime, mainly drug related which is why lots of people are leaving the UK! Plus you pay 8% tax on your salary!!!! No, seriously, we were looking into it purely for the weather/outdoor lifestyle but realise that isn't the ONLY reason to go either (my 2 yr old loves nothing better than donning her rain suit and going 'puddle hunting' in the rain!). Still pondering but just think lots of people think moving to aus is going to be a completely different life but hey it's always gonna be same sh*t different place! Good luck to everyone, I sincerley mean it.

No doubt your next reponse will be " My sons house is bigger than your house nah nah nah nah nah "
I can't wait....

Can't be arsed to read the rest of this thread to see how this turns out, but wanted to say, 'give over nit picking and lets get back on topic eh'?

I agree. There's no point going to escape crime, drugs, tax etc.
I have to say though that I think most people go with their eyes open these days. You don't get as many of the "I can't wait to leave Britain - it's a s**thole posts".
Three years ago I looked into emigrating and came to the same decision as you but the urge hasn't gone away.
This time the only thing I'm expecting is for things to be "different". Of course I'm hoping things will be better in some respects but I don't have rose tinted glasses.
Re: puddles - My kids love them too but last weekend I took them to the park and it was waterlogged. We had to leave after 10 minutes. There was mud down the slide and walking from the swings to the slide left us ankle deep in mud. I ended up forking out for the indoor play centre again.
Taking the dog over the field every day is a nightmare due to the mud.
I know Victoria has weather problems too with bushfires and drought but it's about what's best for individuals at certain points in their life and at this point I feel Australia will be better for my family.
Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for all the replies. Very interesting reading!

Hust to reply to a previous question, our degrees were in 'computer science' for boyfriend, and Fashion Design for me. Both attended uni for 4 years.
