Default Airline recomendations

For all those of you that have flown to Oz before, I would be interested in opinions of the airline you flew with, with an indication of what class you flew?

Thanks for the help

Stu

Flew Qantas / BA cattle class once - it was OK.

Recently flew Singapore Airlines, economy class again, and it seemed like there was more leg room, the service and food quality was excellent and it's the airline we've chosen for the one-way trip in January.

We booked economy on Qantas for our trip last easter and got BA on the way out and Qantas on the way back. BA leg room was 1" less and there were no computer games available unless you were in business class. Qantas had the games - might be a minor point to some but for us with 2 children the difference on a 24 hr flight was noticeable! Qantas staff were much more helpful and cheery - in fact that flight was delayed by 6 hrs but the airline staff were so obliging and understanding that I heard very little complaint at all from passengers.

We went to Singapore a few years ago on Singapore airlines and it was fantastic - best flight I've been on. Plane was spotless, food was good and a very friendly air crew. We also flew Emirates and they came a close second to Singapore airlines.

Hope this helps.

Thanks JAJ - will check link out - sounds interesting but in the meantime, I can only add that myself and my wife flew out with Singapore - good price and excellent efficient service. My only problem was that I was too tired to make good use of their amazing white wine/whisky. Oh well. will have to return - by the way, the advantage of Singapore Airlines is that they tend to end up in Singapore! - great place, one of the best places we've been to in years and the friendliest people ever! - One word of warning though...............BEWARE THE DURIAN!

We flew Emirates to Brisbane via Dubai and Singapore. The food was excellent, The films were good with a selection and the games passed the time (once you work them out).
Total duration was 24 hours costing £735 return.

We were most impressed and will use Emirates new year.

We have flown with Emirates recently and Singapore twice before.

They were both good - if you get the Ice entertainment it is excellent
on Emirates.
I think the food was better on Emirates - both the kids and adults meals. However, their ground staff are not very helpful. Though cabin crew were really nice.

The seats seem wider on Singapore though. I would use either of them again but I would still choose Singapore as my first choice as it seems more comfy.

We've just returned from Perth with Emirates via Dubai. Cheap seats were Ok. We flew with our two young kids, 7 months and 3 yrs. Can't fault them, they fuss over the kids with toys and stuff. We'll use them next time we fly to Perth. They also let you pre-book seats if you've got young children too which is handy.

Hey, the best thing after the flight from Heathrow was getting an invigorating shower in the fitness club there, cost $8 singapore I think and fully revitalized me for the onward flight to Oz.

We flew BA/Quantus, they let us down badly.

The plane broke and we had to sit on it for 3 hours before they let us off again and then they gave us poor and misleading information, which left us with a 7 hour wait in Dubai and a total travelling time of 33 hours. Not even a single sorry!!

We've flown 4 times with BA and 3 times we have had problems, this time (Oct 04) being the worse.

We will not fly BA again.

flew with BA longhaul (12 hours) to Mauritius - economy class was awful and very cramped (I am 5"9)

Flew Emirates, Glasgow-Dubai-Singapore-Brisbane - the flight had far more legroom than the BA flight, the food was decent, computer games were good and service first class. No delays or anything. I would definately use them again, plus they are the only direct flight to Dubai/ Australia from Glasgow at the moment without flying down to Heathrow 1st!
