This is actually a time when you should look at Air Asia X.

Because you're going to get stung at Xmas anyway, whereas on AAX you could pay about the same and travel in XL class.

This is what it currently looks like on the KL - Stansted sector, no guarantees it stays that way as the new seats may get fitted at some point.

Plus it goes from Coolangatta.....perfect for you!

Have looked at them, mid december on XL is $500 one way and $1000 the other from Gold Coast to KL. Then Malaysian airlines from KL to London is $6000 for the four of us. So a rough total of $12,000.

Are you allowed to book seperately like that? Would I be able to book them via a travel agent as im a bit of a whimp when it comes to booking online for stuff like this!!!! X

You can book seperately however you or a travel agent would never be able to book this on a single ticket so you would have to make sure you left long connections or had KL stopovers just to be safe.

I dont think a travel agent can book Air Asia....all they will do is use the website like you could.....you still have the 2 ticket problems.

Why would two tickets be a problem?

Intend to have a short break whoever we fly with so definately dont mind a few hours in the pan pacific transit hotel at KL. X

UK sites are no good for travel from Aus unfortunately. Just had a look from this end and it looked to be around the $2,500 mark each before taxes and they'd have to fly down to Sydney to get to London.

Shiels, I think the $11+ for the four of you from Brissie, has to be your best bet. Unless you can find a cheapish one way (don't tell big J ) and then get a one way back again, or even a cheap return (may work out a bit cheaper).

I've used it frequently, it's actually worldwide but my account is with the UK one.

I just checked on Air NZ's site and they have Brisbane-UK for $11,000 over Xmas, via Hong Kong.

Only a problem if you book a short(ish) connection and miss the onward flight if your first one is delayed.....the first airline is not obligated to help you out.....even if we're talking about 2 flights on AAX.

BTW, AAX flies to the low cost terminal at KL, it's about a 20km drive around to the main terminal where the Pan Pacific is although I think there is a coach. There is a new low cost hotel at the low cost terminal as well....super cheap but reasonable standard.
