Probably, I have done a bit of research and AC plant is cheaper in Australia than UK.
But yes still expensive

Just thought I would inform you of where I got to with the air con quote I had from Air Conditioning Mart. I posed a number of questions back to them based on everyones suggestions.
------------------------------------------
QUESTIONS ASKED
1) The price you quoted me in June ($4600 for a Bonaire Integra VSL75 with 9 outlets). Is this price still similar now and also does this include installation? If not, what is the cost of installation?
2) What other costs are involved in the process?
3) What is included in the price and more specifically what isn't included in the price
4) Does this unit have a therostat facility to control the airflow, or is that only on refrigerative cooling products?
5) If it has a thermostat, where would this be placed in the house to ensure maximum efficiency of the cooling?
6) The touchpad for the system - i assume this will be wall mounted. If so what is the process involved in getting this wired up - will you need to remove plaster etc, and will you cover this up before you leave?
7) I assume that the unit mounted on the roof needs both power and water supplies - do you look after all the plumbing etc and is this extra to the cost quoted? Ditto with electrician fees?
8) I assume that this type of cooling does not allow for zoning of a house - is that correct? If zoning is possible, is that an extra expense - if so how much for say 3 zones?
-------------------------------------------
ANSWERS
1) Bonaire VSL75 9 ceiling outlet is $4740 touch pad control with auto water system fully installed.
2) & 3) No other costs, except Winter covers if required - $210.
4) There is a thermostat in the touch pad control -- only on auto -- it increases the fan speed only when the house gets warmer.
5) We would need your floor plans so we can run simulations through a computer program to determine exact requirements and locations of the thermostat
6) Yes the touch pad is installed on a cavity wall -- no mess.A telephone cable to hide.
7) Fully installed covers the three trades.
8) All on or all off. There is no zoneing. there is a company that zones but it does not work efficiently.
-------------------------------------------
OTHER INFORMATION PROVIDED WHEN ASKED ABOUT CONTRACTS, DELIVERY TIMES, ETC
Usually we are 5 to 6 weeks booked ahead for installation in the summer months. Every year it gets longer due to the volume of sales our seven stores achieve.
All that is required is a 10% deposit to hold the price , $4740 on a cash/cheque basis and that is $470 as deposit. If a debit/credit card used add 2% on any amount paid.
We can sign you up on a contract any time from now on in and assume a VSL 75 is required and change the contract to suite the house plans when received, or wait until house plans in hand.
This current price is valid for 14 days as all our quotes are.
Your details will be required , eg: phone number, fax ,mobile, The address of installation, tiled roof ? insulated?
-----------------------------------------------
They seem to be providing a fairly comprehensive services for the $4700. I am seriously considering going with these guys. Unless Paul (jacko) you can beat the price

Well I reckon thats pretty good (As you know the true cost of the Bonaire unit, from my PM) the installation cost I would say is very reasonable
