Air con

Might sound a silly question but is there Air-con in schools in Oz, with the heat wave here (UK) the kids in school have a few fans and its just not enough,my 8 year old has just asked the question..

Hi Steve,
Not a silly question at all.
You would be surprised to hear that in Queensland the majority of schools are not air-conditioned and there has been a lot of talk from lobby groups in Queensland to make it compulsory but as yet, the state Government are not doing anything about it.
At least in the U.K the kids only have to put up with it for a couple of days a year, a little different here.

A lot of schools are not air conditioned. My own kids school has I think finally got a/c in all classrooms (lots of separate buildings) after the parents spent years fundraising the $50-100k necessary.
I have never known the school send kids home because of the heat, though I remember some parents choosing (illegally) to keep their kids at home when we had a week or so in the 40s a few years back.
