Shop around, do a search on here and you'll find loads of reviews and peoples opinions and the quotes they got. As a builder you should know never to go with the first quote you get.

Sounds fair to me. We paid something similar Ldn to Bris three years ago.

Re: advise on container?
All of our stuff arrived the other week.
We used John Mason based in Liverpool, and paid GBP 3,200 for sole use of a 20ft container, Derby to Melbourne. Just had the customs fees this end to add on $370 I think. We agreed that price in August and our stuff was shipped mid August. I did get other quotes and knocked JM down a bit but no one would budge below 3,200 so at the time i figured i'd got the best price.
I would highly recommend John Mason, all of our stuff arrived in once piece nothing damaged or broken. And the team this end were great.

Re: advise on container?
we had between £3,300 (Whites) to £4,900 Crown - Brizzle to Perth. We went with D Bonner as their depot is just the other side of Bath so we could see our stuff loaded into the container from the removals truck. DB was about £3,600 + insurance was another £1300 or so (2.7%). AQIS fees $374 at the other end (as stated above).
DB were fine but VERY quick at packing. too quick and enthusiastic in some cases, packing stuff we weren't taking and dropping a couple of items.
remains to see if any damage done. left depot 7th Nov, arrives Freo 22nd Dec. May get it by 15th Jan what with Xmas & New Year break.
