advice please on weighing book boxes
#1
Hi all,
We have some book boxes to ship over stuff like er.....books!
and DVD's and CD's and some other stuff. The problem is they should not exceed 40kgs in weight. All we have to weigh the boxes is a small set of bathroom scales and I'm not sure how accurate they are to weigh the boxes as we have to balance the boxes on the scales? Just wondered if anyone has filled a book box with DVD's did it exceed 40kgs? and did anyone else use bathroom scales to weigh their stuff and was it all ok?
Thanks very much!

I weighed our luggage, and found that it was about 3kgs out. So knock 5 off to be safe

I just weighed myself (yikes!) and then weighed again when carrying the boxes.

Alternatively...you could try...
a) weighing the box at your local hospital (being a nurse an all!)
b) take it to your local sorting office /post office
if you do use the hoist/scales/balancing route, can you get hubby to take some piccies and post them oh here for the giggle factor

the scales at the hospital aren't much better!
I could take them to the local swimming baths and weigh them I suppose - it will only cost me 20p per box!
Well I am quite pleased cos I did manage to hold onto the box of DVD's while standing on the scales and it was pretty accurate. Infact I was quite pleased as I have lost a few pounds in weight!

just be sure of weight limit...most are 35kg max, for health & safety reasons! Our boxes were only 3/4 filled, when we reached 35kg max, padded out with soft toys, they were mainly large hardback books tho!
we stood on scales and deducted our weight from it..(that'll be the royal "we", actually OH swaying under the weight whilst I tried to read the dial
)
