Advice please
Hi All,
I`ve have been reading with great interest other peoples threads, but this is the first i`ve actually started a new thread, so please be gentle with me Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
OK, My wife and i want immigrate to Oz, probably next year sometime. My wife is a pharmicist and would be the main applicant. My wife has a son(aged 15, soon to be 16) from her first marriage, who has been in trouble with the police and was arrested for vandalism firstly in 2003, and was given community service, then again in the last few days he`s been arrested again. This time for stealing a car! He`s been trouble all his life, and now my wife just wants to wash her hands of him and wants to hand legal custody for him over to either the state or some relatives who are willing to take him on. It`s a sorry state i know, but she`s just reached the end of the line with him. He`s had untold last chances, and seen professionals, but still doesn`t it do the trick. He wouldn`t be coming with us if we moved to Oz.My question is: The fact that he`s not going to be coming with us, would it effect the visa application for us?
Any advice would be greatly apprecated. Thanks.

crikey!
can't comment on most of your post ... however your wifes son will need a medical, even if not included on application.
This has sometimes caused difficulties for others and I think the best advice would be to contact a migration consultant.
Good luck.

My wife feels really bad what`s happening, but she`s just come to the end of the line with him.
Would he still need a medical even if he`s not going with us?
Thanks.

Yes, he'll need a medical. He'll also need a police check done, so definately seek advice from an agent. There are some really good ones out there, George Lombard (as already mentioned) also Alan Collett from Go Matilda.
All the best with things. It's not easy leaving your kids behind, even if you think it's what you want it is still heart wrenching.
