Adelaide Accommodation
Hi guys
Wondered if anyone had any suggestions about finding holiday rentals and more importanly pet friendly unfurnished rentals for Adelaide. We would have 2 weeks where we could stay in either a holiday rental or a hotel at a push, but would ideally like to get an unfurnished rental sorted before we get there as we need to make sure we have one for the mutt arriving. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Have had a look for holiday rentals and to be honest there arent that many in Adelaide and most of them are either hotels or B&B. Had a look at Real estate and about 85% of the unfurnished rentals say no pets. We would ideally be looking for something that is no more that about 30 minutes commute into the city and the hills sound nice but we're not overly fussy.
We've rented for 10 years so have got excellent references and having Zara has never been a problem in the past as she's very well behaved.
thanks
Nikki

Re: Adelaide Accommodation
For holiday rentals a lot of new arrivals use Adelaide Shores caravan park. It's close to the airport right on the water, so nice to relax. Less than 20 minutes to the city, too.
As for long term rentals, you will have to wait until you get here to see what's what. There are a lot of rentals that are not listed on the websites, so you could go around to the various real estate agents and look at their window displays. Can't help with where you live as it's a personal thing. We like the northern suburbs, but others hate it.

Re: Adelaide Accommodation
Ok, this is what I've found out.
You can try to apply from there, but it's not a guarantee that you'd find something, the agents will assess your application and then pass your details on to the landlord. It's then up to the landlord whether s/he accepts you or not.
The pitfall of it is that because you aren't in the country, the landlord probably would rent to someone who is phiscally here rather than taking the chance that you may not turn up, in which case they then have to readvertise.
You can certainly try, but you'd be best arranging alternative, short term accomodation as well.
Also it would possible help your case if you arrange to pay them 3 to 6 months rent in advance. When you apply for rentals, send as much supporting evidence as you can. Bank statements, references etc.

And if anything decent comes on the market it is gone in hours!!
Sorry to sound so negative, but we have really struggled and our requirement has gone from 4 beds to 3 to 2!! And still no joy!! Just lucky we have some good friends willing to put us up!!
