ABH and Common Assault - Visa?

ABH and Common Assault - Visa?
Hi All,
A friend of mine(honest, I've already got my visa) is thinking of applying for a visa to Oz.
Before he wastes his time and money, has anyone out there(or know of a friend!!!) qualified for a visa with these, or similar offences.
Before I receive any negative responses, he is actually a very nice guy, just unlucky.

i have heard of people getting a visa with a record for violence.

Used to be the most common way to get there!

His offences are as follows:
ABH - 1999 - Caution
Common Assault - 2000 - 12 months Conditional Discharge
