ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
After two and a half decades, the person behind the ABCDiamond persona became an Australian Citizen on 21st December 2011.
Anyone in the Austrian passport office can now put a name to the ABCDiamond persona, as very few people can get all those three things happening on the same day. Just 4 hours and 10 minutes from the Citizenship ceremony to having the passport available for pickup. That must be nearly a record. However, it did take 25 years and 11 days from first migrating to Australia to becoming an Australian Citizen. |
Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
Welcome aboard mate  Hope that world record passport application isn't so you can now get the hell outta here :D

Congrats

Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
And at what point in that whirlwind process did you eat the vegemite sandwich which really confers citizenship?
I was also going to remark that now you can escape without having to worry just in case you ever decide to return LOL |

Congratulations ABC, should have said that the first time! |
Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
congrats. :D
but after waiting 25 years, why was there the need to have the passport application pushed through in hours, after exerting some kind of status influence over the process, as opposed to just waiting the normal timeframe? just curious. |
Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
Congrats

Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
To answer a few questions:
Statistically, the time it takes to renew a British passport and get a new RRV issued was longer, and I think more expensive, than that involved in getting Australian Citizenship and an Australian passport. Consequently, and those who know me are either now smiling or groaning, it made sense to use the route I took. The reason for the speed... I NEED A BLOODY HOLIDAY.... NOW !!! The UK is NOT in my list of holiday options, as I don't have any clothes suitable for such a climate. Fortunately no vegemite sandwich was needed... |
Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
Well done!
One little fly in the ointment though, do you think the Aussies are ok accepting an Austrian passport? TD |

now what about that hallowed mysterious 2%...it cant be birthright otherwise Russell Crowe et al wouldn't be called "Aussie" when required for the nation's anti-insecurity duty. |

Re: ABCDiamond is now an Aussie
karma for you. the fabled Austika. actually if you can get the facial expression to match the guy in the photo you must surely be a true 101% aussie. edit: it looks like although hes paid to have this done, he's about to punch the guy for doing it. edit 2: and the tattoo guy isnt even looking at what he's doing. he's done that tattoo so many times its second nature edit 3: i wish i could give you more karma, that picture is gold. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this one is like a nasal version of war and peace. |

Have a great holiday & lovely to see you back, 65% of posters have missed you :D That reminds me of my first Archery test. I couldn't see where the arrow landed... I didn't think to look in the bulls-eye section... The instructor did say concentrate, so I thought about my first wife......... Now I am thinking of the 303 practice, and then switching to the Stirling... accuracy wasn't quite as important with that one. ;) |
