ABC Nurseries
Wondered if anyone uses or has used the ABC Nurseries. We are heading to Warner in Brisbane and then possibly Mango Hill in May and want to get our 3 year old girl into some sort of schooling as she loves school over here. Seems everywhere has an ABC Nursery if anyone have any info on them and knows how much they are would be great cheers

Just found this quote on the SMH re the latest t/o:
The Association of Community Based Children's Services has raised alarm over the potential deal.
The association's chairwoman, Lynne Wannan, said it would result in more child-care operators having a stronger motive to make profits and please shareholders, rather than provide quality child care.
"It is very difficult to have commercial enterprises like that in the community sector because the drivers are all wrong."

Having said that, they have strict rules, excellent screening when hiring staff and education wise, they go further than most centres. Currently they own more Daycare centres in Australia than anyone else, after buying Peppercorn etc. and yes, they are in the process of buying more. Fees will go up, no doubt .

Two downsides: 1) they don't give a hoot about head lice here (massive problem!) 2) expensive!

$41 per day quoted by our local one last year, but this can be reduced to as little as $6 per day, if eligible for the Centrelink Childcare rebates.

my son went to abc last year - it was great but they putting the price up. very difficult to find childcare here, sydney at any rate - might have to take what you can - most of them are substandard so ABC was pretty good relative to the others i saw

Thanks all i am a little concerned that a company so big has the childs interest above money. As for headlice its the same in UK we live in Christchurch near Bournemouth on south coast of England and our daughter has come home with headlice more times than i can remember and then of course we all get it and sit there with some stinking shampoo on our heads all night oh the fun of having kids
