Default 457 and stimulus bonus

Hi

We are in Oz on the 457 visa and lodged a tax return for 2007 - 2008 so are resident for tax purposes. Does anyone know if we will be entitled to receive the $900 stimulus bonus as we are temporary residents?

Many thanks

Govt information ad in yesterdays paper; 'you are probably eligible if you were an Australian resident & paid tax in 2007-08'

More info: www.australia.gov.au/taxbonuspayment

You must have also paid some net tax, after all tax rebates.

Is it still under review tomorrow or are all the payments approved now?

As far as I am aware, the court case is still set for tomorrow, March 30th.

I know it is probably only a small chance of it being reversed, but there was enough of an argument for the case to be heard in the High Court, so I still wouldn't spend it too soon.

I ain't spending it. Never got any cash from the govt handouts yet, and being a cynic I don't expect things to change now!
