Re: 457 question

We arrived on a 457 and got a credit card with pathetic credit limit with CBA. Had to keep UK credit cards for airline trips etc. Even after 2 years of PR and a high-ish income and high $ in my account, CBA refuse to give me a decent limit as they took ages to update my details. I suspect this is just CBA tho.

Re: 457 question

I need to change credit cards - CBA is sh1te. I rarely need a credit card so my spending is low - maybe that is the problem as I've got 2 years PR, way above average salary and CBA will only give me $8K. They didn't update my visa status when I popped in 2 years ago with the paperwork, so have only listed me as PR for 6 mths. I haven't enough credit to buy return tickets for the family to UK on an Oz credit card. Asked CBA if I could credit the card to get up to the $12K required and they said 'we don't allow that'. Asked for a higher limit and they refused saying I could contact them when 'my financial circumstances changed'. I've got the money in my savings a/c! Go figure. So I need to keep a UK Credit card up to date to pay for flights.

I would definatly change card - the new Virgin one looks decent and the NAB ones are pretty good as they get quantas points

Interesting, I am on a 457, been here 2 1/2 years and have a credit limit of 25k with CBA. Started at 12k and risen through use and need, always pay it off in large chunks so maybe its a useage thing.

I would guess that as well. I have a CBA credit card and while it has a low limit of $5k (by choice) I am forever getting letters from CBA offering to increase the limit.

Does everyone think going in to to bank would be better than applying online?
