Hi
we're going to brisbane on a temp long stay business visa -
I've got a clinical position in a hospital.
Does anyone know if what sort of tax we could be paying?
$50k wage - will it be the same as the aussies or do we get taxed more cos we're on a visa?
Also I believe I'm on 4 weeks hols but someone said places close for 2 weeks at xmas - but I doubt hospitals are included in that!

I don't know what type of holidays you get at hospitals, but christmas holdays in Australia are basically the same as in Britain.. Christmas day and boxing day, and a bank holiday if one of those two days fall on a weekend. And of course New years day.
Only difference, the kids here have their Summer holidays around this time instead of August like Britain (not quite sure of the exact dates, as I haven't got children).
Also Fridays in Australia, in some places anyway are half day.
