 You'd be surprised! I keep trying to tell my husband that one day I'd love to do up a movie room that has a projector on the ceiling and a gigantic screen.

Prepare to make the retailers fight for your business. Never take the price tag as the real price you'll pay. The first question you should ask is 'What's the best price you can do this for?'. They'll then ask if you've had any better prices elsewhere. Make a price up, maybe base it on the best price you've seen on the internet or on the Whirlpool/AVForums. Then take their best price any try that in another shop to see if they'll beat it.

Do this in 3-4 shops, maybe see if any will throw in an extended warranty. Try JB Hifi, Goodguys, Harvey Norman & Rick Hart (Rick Hart are surprisingly competitive if you have an existing price).

After all this, you'll still probably pay over 10% more than the UK but that's just the way it is. If the TV's a real bargain in the UK I'd import it.

Cheers

Dead right - TV's are cheaper in the UK and the argument that 'it may be cheaper by the time you get to use it' may be true but I doubt it. Not with the differences anyway.

Biggest issue is the warranty - some you can transfer or it is a global warranty. others not so you need to check.

If not sure, just buy here. You can get some dirt cheap ones which suffer for quality but then it is horses for courses...
