2nd stage of spouce visa
I know this is the wrong part of the forum but I thought more of you would be in here rather than in the visa section.
I applied for my visa 2 years in march so will have to do the next stage soon, I want to get the PR ASAP as I am peed off with being a temp resident with all the probs that go with it.
Do they contact you? or can you contact them, do you have to do all the statements again? how long does it take.
Basically I just want a heads up on what is entailed so we can get as much prepared prior to the date and get the PR in my passport.

I'm as peed off as you with the temp resident situation, but what will happen is this - about 3 months before THE date (Feb for me, March for you) DIMIA will contact you. You need an Aussie police check, and you may need a UK one - opinion seems divided on this, so I get it sorted just in case.
You ned to provide evidence that you are still in the rel'ship - Stat Decs and joint bills, but noweere near as much as for the last lot.
They will then ask for your passport (unless you frontload it) and in goes the sticker.
Bondipom got his a while back and posted about it. Seems fairly quick, his was held up by a couple of weeks cos he was in the UK, but you should get the grant at around the two-year anniversary, from what I've read.
