21 year old planning to move to Aus after my uni degree.
I plan to move to Australia after completing my degree at Manchester in Economics.
Would I be able to survive? I already have citizenship.
How highly regarded are degrees from British Universities over there? I plan to move to Sydney. Thanks guys

Manchester University is a great Uni in world terms and is known over here, you have citizenship so you easily just walk into the country. Look at graduate programs with large companies, have a few friends working for Deloitte in Sydney two have UK degrees and one has a Czech degree. Their degrees are in economics.
Even start looking online, a great recruitment agency for your type of work is www.roberthalf.com.au/
Good luck.

With an Aussie passport you will have great opportunities.

OP certainly has a big advantage over someone coming on a WHV for example.
And I have no reason to believe that OP won't make a great go of it.
But I find your comment very silly (nothing unusual there I know) , it takes more than a passport of a particular nation to get and make the most of opportunities.

Don't forget to state honours in your resume. Don't just state BSc, use BSc(Hons).
In Aus, 3 years gets you a normal degree. Honours is an extra year, usually done by 5% and, I gather it's by invitation to the top students. Honours is the pathway to a PhD here.
If anybody wants to know how your degree compares to Aus, use this http://www.aber.ac.uk/en/postgrad/ho...ty/noneuquals/.
http://www.aei.gov.au/AEI/Qualificat...on/Default.htm is the Aus arm of http://www.enic-naric.net/index.aspx?c=Australia. Aus and UK use the same table.

Hey Northlondoner,
I work at UoM, small world.
Good luck with the move, I'm sure you're fine- if you survived Oxford Road on a Friday night you can survive anything.

Depends where you do your Masters and which course you go for. I work at the University of Manchester and deal with Masters in business, finance and economics and we only accept a hons degree at no less than a 2:1 some degrees you'll need a 65% or higher but many universities will accept lower and some will even accept a straight forward bachelors without hons.

Other unis have lower requirements. Some take 2ii. Manchester is one of the top unis.
The chance of them requiring an Aus hons is remote to me especially if it's a taught master's. BTW, a taught master's will have a research component that is worth 33% of the total marks.
If money is an issue have a look at Dutch and German unis that offer courses in English. Cheaper than UK.

I think you need to talk to the uni. Drell reports that Manchester requires 2i hons. I would approach the uni and explain, for example, one has a 2A that isn't hons because in Aus it's an extra year that involves research training, assigments and a dissertation.

Thank you very much, guys.. I didnt know there was no universal entry requirement for Masters in UK.
How cheaper will Dutch or German Masters be? Masters is a one year study in UK, right? its 1.5-2 in Australia.

Re: 21 year old planning to move to Aus after my uni degree.
Here is a website that lists all masters in the EU, their price, time to complete, requirements, it includes UK too: http://www.mastersportal.eu/
The website shows prices for non-eu citizens on the mainnpages, but once you click into the details it has the price for EU citizens (Much cheaper).
Personally I wouldn't give a cent to any UK University as they treated me like an international student and non citizen when I wanted to apply, Australia and EU treated me like a citizen, which I am. UK shuns it's own citizens just because they or their parents lived away for 3 years. UK and Ireland are the only countries in the EU with the silly 3 year rule, the other 24 countries ( and 3 EEA countries) treat EU Citizens as EU Citizens.
