Default 1day in Sydney

Flying down to Sydney on THURSDAY and as my wife will be at a Sales meeting all day on Friday i have a fulll day to Myself. Would like to visit a museum or something that would give me some idea on how Aussie was populated from the first POMS to present day. Anyone any ideas?

Go to the barracks it's beside the royal mint, it was built by the convicts and holds a museum with hammocks on the top floor, the story of the first poms is evident all through the museum.

Other than the barracks, the Museum of Sydney has some interesting exhibits. And it's close to the State Library of NSW, too, which also has some interesting collections.

For a bit of a didgeridoo thing, there used to be a show on which was free and was held at tourist info in the harbour. We found it so interesting learning about the aboriginal history. Not sure if they still do it,but if you are in the vacinity well worth asking.
