Default 134(skills matching)visa: can I approach potential employers ?

We are having to apply on a 134 skills matching visa, so, if all goes well with qualification assessment, etc, etc, my details will be listed on the Skills Matching database, from which I can be selected by employers.

However, I am concerned that this may prove fruitless so I was wondering if anyone knows if I can approach potential employers myself ? I can't find this info anywhere.

John.

Yes, you can. In fact, the chances that an employer will pick you out of the database without some initiative on your part are extremely slim.

Also approach state governments to see if your skill is on their shortage list.

JAJ,

Thank God for that !!

I have a large file I've already collected of potential employers, so that's a HUGE relief for me, thank you.

Alas, my nominated occupation isn't one that WA state are after, but I'll have plenty to go at now that I can make approaches.

Thanks again.
