$42 billion Stimulus Package

I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread on this yet so far today. I'm not sure I understand it all but it's interesting to see the opinions of people who do.

We earn (single income) just over $100,000 per year and yet again we get absolutely nothing.

Rudd is beginning to piss me off now. I liked him at the beginning.

There is an absurd assumption that we should somehow be 'living in the lap of luxury' on our income? It is a fairly average salary considering how expensive living here is.

We would have liked to see something.

Will it help the economy? I doubt it. Waste of time and taxpayers money ultimately.

And it's 'bye bye Rudd' from me when the elections come around....

Half the last Ruddles bonus got shoved down the pokies, the other half went on Korean Plasma TV's... Maybe hes not the great flaming dongwit he seems to be, knows most of it will go down a poker machine, back into the govvy purse in other words:lol:.

Serioulsy I think the man only has one oar in the water, hes spending 42 billion, he inherited 22 billion from the previous govvy, thats gone, now hes spending 42 billion. I bet we are going to pay for that later on;)

On the bright side My 15 year old just started a part time job, maybe for the first time we will get some of the handouts:lol:

I liked the bit about spending money on schools and infrastructure. Keeps people busy doing things which will help society in the future.

I think that's a better way to get the economy moving than just using taxpayer money to bail out the banks.

more money that I don't get...

I would be quite happy to pump this money straight back into the economy if only they would give me some.

Lets be honest here. When you compare a salary of >$100k, to the average salary of a person living in Qld, I think it's a little unfair to expect government handouts, which are intended for people who really need them...not folks who are probably living a fairly comfortable lifestyle already. I don't think that anyone is assuming that you're living in the lap of luxury either.

ps - no disrespect intended or anything....the above is a general comment.

With this kind of handout, the line has to be drawn somewhere....and those who just miss out will be the ones who feel the most frustration.

Personally I think that it will help the economy.

I don't think that people with temp visas will be eligible, this is intended for people who live in Australia long term.

I looked on treasurey website.

It says you need to be getting benefits for the school bonus's etc.

But the one off $950 relating to income, just says you must be resident for tax last year to get the $950 and earning less than $100k. No mention of visa status or need to be getting benefits.

Ive just lost out on nearly $5000 for the kids grrrrrrrrr.

I hope they do another one of these after July when Im PR.
