Whether it's worth it is totally subjective, however if that is the combined earnings of two full timers then it is around the Australian average.

$125,000 as a single income would give you a net income of $1700 per week. Assuming that your rent is $350-$500 per week you will have at least $1200 per week for other expenses which should leave a reasonable amount for discretionary expenditure.

If the income is split equally between partners ($62,500 each) your total net income rises to $1900 per week.

No. You will surely starve to death within the first month. You will be unable to afford even the smallest of cardboard boxes to live in. Forget about eating anything but scraps scavenged from restaurant dumpsters. Grocery shopping? Not likely! Eating inside a restaurant? Not on that piddly sum!

We live on far less than that and are a family of 5.

Depends where you want to live, whether you like going out to dinner several times a week, if you send children to private schools etc, etc.

That surprises me BB.

Although I guess it may be different in the cities.

Average full-time earnings in Australia were $64641 per annum in 2010. (According to the Bureau of Statistics.)

There - you made me look it up!

I moved back because more than that didn't fund the lifestyle I wanted in Sydney and no I didn't live an extravagant lifestyle I.e. 1 holiday per year only 1 abroad in 5 years. It's a lot less than you would think. It is however enough to fund an adventure down under if that's what you want.

Knew I could rely on you.

Up here in the sticks I reckon the average would be more like $50k tops.

It's almost exactly the average wage... So as far as average wages go probably equiv to 53K Pounds for two in blighty. .

So how would a couple go in the UK on 53K ? Would that be worth moving for ? Or another way of looking at it is how many people do you know that earn this. Most working couples here for me.

You could earn 500k and still not love it. You could be picking fruit earning 10k and love it.

Far more to it than money.

I could be taking you too literally, but I wouldn't "travel around the globe" purely to secure an average income (for two people). If you mean is it possible to live on, well plenty do and if you have other reasons for wanting to come to Australia well then that is another matter. But if your goal is to move somewhere for a few years to make some serious money to get yourself set up, then this might miss the mark.

Its a great salary if your single. average if you are together. To get ahead you really need two incomes imo.
