Simmenthal
#1
For years I've seen adverts for Simmenthal but I've never been tempted to buy any and try it.
I'm not sure if it might be like corned beef or like spam but "boiled meat in gelatin in a tin" just doesn't tempt me.
Has anybody tried it and what's it really like?

It's disgusting! My OH used to eat it, it's like cat food (not that I've ever tasted cat food but I'm sure they make it in the same factory). As for the silly advert, what does the girl in the big hat actually say?!

My OH says that they have it at work sometimes and it looks like Catfood.... I think I might give it a miss....

We got the chicken one in omaggio from Esselunga and it was ok. Really dry which surprised me!!!

Did you eat it cold like in a salad and was it covered in jelly stuff when you opened the tin?

It was a tiny trial size so I ate it from the tin! It's like that tinned ham with jelly you get in the UK but the chicken was dry not moist. It was ok but not something I'd buy..

Hubby loves the stuff. It's a bit like corned beef except the bits of beef are flakyish and it's in gelatine. I'll eat it, but I could live without it.

My hubby loves it too, so do the kids. Personally I don't do meat in tins so have no idea what it tastes like but can't imagine it to be great. I use to put it in salads.

Forgot to say that though it doesn't need to be stored in the fridge it is eaten cold.

Ciao tutti, love it at this time of year, cold, with tomatoes. Very tasty, very nourishing. The silly girl in the hat, who looks quite posh, comes out with a broad Sicilian 'bedda magra'
which translates as 'lovely and lean'.ciao for now,

Yeah I think it's favored by people a dieta.
I've tried it and it's ok, flakey corned beef is a good likeness. I wouldn't go crazy about it or buy it myself though. Who'd go crazy about flakey corned beef?
I really miss Italian tined tuna here. Who'd have thought it. Will stock up next time I'm over. Rio Mare. Dribbles...
