Default security tags

I bought a hoody for my son at the market down in Turin last weekend. When I got home I noticed it still had the security tag on ! Its a bit far to go all the way back so I had a look on the net- I dont have a very powerful magnet so I tried another method and it worked. Use a lighter on the little dome part of the plastic tag - melt it down a bit then cut it back with a knife. After a couple of a times it got down to the metal bit and then some little ballbearings fell out and then it slid easily away from the material without causing any rips or damage
(probably a useless bit of information but you just never know when you may need it )

Not necessarily.....
I bought a jacket from Decathlon for my son and the brain dead cashier forgot to remove the security tag. Every time he had the jacket on, it made all the alarms ring upon entering shops.
In the end, a kind man in a shop offered to de-magnetise it for me. Well, it was sewn inside the seam and I could not find it.
