Possible names for a sub forum.

Re: Possible names for a sub forum.
I quite like " Il salotto " as a lounge kind of thread but I have just recently seen Tea With Mussolini and it might be considered a bit old fashioned. Like an old ladies tea room.
How about :
Aperol on the Rocks (quite a few people like aperol - can't stand it myself)
The Limoncello Lounge (can't stand limoncello either)
The Grappa Group
L'Aperitivo - Stop here and get ya bearings.
The Prosecco Punks / pyschos / philanthropists / psychologists

You're all a bunch of alchies! How about Shuddupa Ya Face? La Lega Sud? Il Paese dei Balocchi? Is there a prize involved here? Is it a Ford Fiesta? A holiday for two in the Seychelles?

Shuddupa Ya Face is far too English and bears no resemblance to life in Italy ........ unless that is what you say to everyone you meet on the streets

Forget name calling (even if you think it's funny) for a start. Alchies we are not. There are just some drinks here that are typically Italian and we want something Italian-ish for our sub-forum.

what about il bar then. I remember learning that and thinking 'bar' the Italians have all these flouncy words and yet they call a cafe a flipping bar!

Again - far too literal and not Italian based - and before you say it - I am not without humour.
It has to be some kind of thread that is Italian or at least reflects British life in Italy. It will be a chapter that is available to every single poster on this website whether they reside in Melbourne or Texas. Giving our sub forum and Italian name does mean that on the open forum, people will learn that it belongs to Italy and therefore have less to contribute or indeed take the Mickey. Just like you wouldn't automatically go to their Barbie thread and tell them they are all mad !

"Bar degli Inglesi"
"Caffe' dell'Incontro"
"Chattiamo"
must say I like "il Salotto" as well ... it has a certain elegance ...

What's the Italian for pedestrian crossing?? Passagio pedonale or something like? At least it's something we all agree on here - no-one uses them properly!!
