If you were going to set up your finances again, what would you recommend to someone?

Offshore account for incountry payments (in £) to go into, then set up a regular transfer from that into a UK bank to cover minimal maintenance such as mortgage?

Spending transferred into an incountry bank and leave the rest as offshore savings?

I set up an account with Barclays, Jersey, Channel Islands, 16 years ago when we were living in Botswana as expats. We lived in Dubai for 12 years and then closed the account when we settled in Oz. But in 16 years we never had any problems and online banking was a breeze when introduced. We used to transfer money over to Barclays when in Botswana and then when in Dubai almost every month with no problems.
Very helpful and efficient banking staff. I would defnitely use them again, if we ever have any money again
