I waited about 18 months for mine - spousal PR visa. Apparently its been granted but I have no offical confirmation - London office say they have no record, SA homa affairs say I'm in. I'm planning on arriving in SA in June 07 and seeing what they say. Expect a very very long wait and a complete paperwork nightmare I'm afraid.

The South African Home Affairs in London are far worse than useless.
I have been waiting 15 months for them to answer a very simple problem. Filled in and sent the correct forms, which they lose and require further copies, sent letters and emails and tried phoning.
I never received a written reply when I do get through on the phone, they say the person dealing with it is away, or it will be answered soon or they have not received my forms, or the phone just goes dead.

Best to go to a civilised country and forget SA.
