Hi Ena

Have not been in Uganda since 2004. However there are many expats in Uganda, the VSO alone has usually about 60/70 volunteers. There are many NGOs with expats. There are no large companies employing thousands of expats but there are many smaller size businesses. South African manufacturing companies are also there and a number of South Africans
running small companies. Embassy staff and banking staff etc. Many tourist
companies run by expats also, rose growing etc. I think I read on the BBC
internet a figure of around 10,000.

The social life we had in Entebbe was good. There is golf club and sailing club
in Entebbe with expat staff also at Zoo. In Kampala there are excellent Hotels and night clubs. Quite a good music scene Like any big city you have to be careful but I never felt unsafe in Kampala. The greatest danger is on the roads with bad driving.

It will depend where you are planning to go to live or work as to how many expats will also be there. However even in remoter parts of the country you will always find another expat.

Hope this helps.

The people are lovely and there is much more mixing of races
