This shows prior intent to go there permanently and will be regarded as dishonest. Btw my Aunt works in immigration.

Swoosh, I really agree with Kitten which shows one thing... There are 32 different best ways to get a visa:D

So, maybe you just got lucky. Point is that if honest people are being given a hard time when it comes to visa's, just think how difficult it must be when you've got something to hide. Don't tell me someone comes on holiday and decides after 1 day that they want to emigrate?? They're not stupid you know.

A good place for visa advice is the home affairs site: http://home-affairs.pwv.gov.za/visa_detail.asp
There are also plenty of warnings on there to apply from your own country.

Another place for advice on the different types of visa:

Hi Dave, How long are you thinking of moving for. A permanent move or just a couple of years? Or just enough time for the world cup!

Have to agree that those are the main reasons for moving. Crime is top of the list as 99% of the people I know who left did so due to bad experiences.

Dave,

It might be worth your glancing through a couple of earlier threads where posters asked for comments about their plans for moving to Jo'burg or elsewhere in SA. Both crime and jobs came up a lot.
