It’s a pity, as SA could be the best country in the world, best climate and scenery, and many decent people. But its all gone wrong.
Indeed! Sad, but true.

A nice graph showing which countries are worst for bribery. Good to see SA maintaining a healthy standing in something.

Hi All,

I've just received an offer to work in Tanzania for a couple of years, and have decided to accept. Up to now, I've lived in the UK my whole life, and have been based in London for the last 13 years.

Are there any forummers based in Tanzania that are able to offer advice on living out there, moving, and all sorts of general stuff?

I've got about 3 months to go before I'll be starting in the new job, and at the moment, this doesn't seem like nearly enough time to get everything organised!

Take Malaria tablets and whatever jabs you need for Africa in advance.

get tour GP to prescribe some broad spectrum anti-biotics to take with, particularly for dysentry, water is mostly from fresh water lakes and you might boil your drinking water, then pop an icecube from a pub in your drink lol
as said, make damn sure all your tropical shots are up to date especially stuff like yellow fever.
Do a lot of reading on Malaria, local trick is to chop up fresh tomato and always sleep in a mozzie net, major preventative is always wash well, sweat, especially around the ankles attracts mozzies, wear long sleeve shirts ,socks, and long pants at night if outside,
and lastly, dont assume a cold is a cold, its one of the bfirst symptoms of malaria, Cerebral is the real killer, and it can be masked and sit dormant and nail you when you least expect it, we nearly lost my brother that way, and did lose a buddy, it came back a year later and killed him in two days.

anywhere north of Maputo is great, where will you be?

Hey Brad, welcome to BE and good luck with your application and move.

Not sure how at 20 years of age you can have a life partner - I didn't get one until I was 35!

Good luck anyway, and shout if you need any information.

Hi - we have been finding this forum very helpful. Thank you. We have just come back from SA a week ago and have decided that we want to make the next part of our life back in SA. My partner is British and I am from SA, so are going down the route of Life Partner Permit.

We have some need of help, to ensure we complete the BI-1738 form 100% and would value anyone who has experience with the process. Specifically a few questions on the application that are a bit ambiguous.
