Default Help!

I have been asked by the Australian RTA (Road & Traffic Authority) to get a letter from the SA equivalant regarding my SA licence. It is one of the old licences in my ID book. They need to know date of issue and date of expiry on a letterhead. I suppose to check that it is not a "bought" one. Date of issue of my licence was 1985 and unfortunately I do not have one of the new licences as I have not lived in SA for about 14 years.

Can anybody help with who I can contact in SA? I cannot for the life of me remember what the dept. is called who issues drivers licences.

If I don't get that piece of paper they will not reconize the SA licence and I am treated as a learner driver and have to go through the whole procedure again of getting a licence, (which I have already done in the UAE as they would not accept my SA licence either).
I feel ill just thinking about going through it all again, so any help will be appreciated!

Thanks.

Wish it was that easy for me. I've already sat my learners and passed first time thankfully. Am going to do my drivers on Thursday (fingers crossed). My SA licence is only valid for a year over here in Northern Ireland. It's just called Traffic Department and would then fall under whatever municipality you lived in. Does that make any sense?

Thanks, was your learners a written signals test? Good luck with your driving test.

I was all done on touch screen computer and loads of questions, not just about signals. Then I had to watch about 10 short video clips and clip on the mouse everytime I saw a hazard. Bit stupid I thought but anyway.
