Not sure I look forward to those days either:(. Just this morning the boy didn’t want to give me a kiss goodbye on my way off to work. Just said no daddy and pulled the covers over hi head. It was like a knife in the heart. :(

I too find this time of the year a bit sad. Sad that I can't be with my family and sad that they are missing out on seeing my children grow up. I've not been with my family for 6 Christmases now and always miss them madly. This year in particular I am feeling it quite badly, especially now that the kids are more aware of the occasion.

I'm going to be filming their pressie opening this year so my family can see their happiness at opening their pressies from them. Not anything like being with them and hearing their thank you (followed by a hug), but it's something at least.

I know we did the right thing in leaving though. I look at their beautiful and happy little faces and know that there would be a huge void in my life had I stayed in SA, as we'd not have had our babies, and these little people would not be a part of my life.

*Sigh* They grow so fast and the time seems to fly. Feels like just the other day we discussing trying for a baby and here we are with a three-year-old little girl and a little boy who's just turned one! :blink:

My dh has always put my kids down - a story and then bed.

Well, the youngest one would get up, bring me his fav blankie and lie down on top of me while I watched the telly, from the time he was 4 until he was 6 or so. He heard me tell dh I was going on a diet to lose a few lbs I'd put on when I moved here, and I heard him weeping in his room a while later. He was crying because he thought he wouldn't be able to fall asleep on mommy any more as I would be 'kinny'. :lol::lol:

Shame, you really have to wonder what they are thinking sometimes. I to put the boy down every night (If not at work). He fights every second to stay awake “More dory, more dory”. What makes life worth living. :)

I hear ya. I can't see my family this year. Xmas just isn't the same here, even after 5 years of it. :(

It's Thanksgiving this week, and I've had several offers to go to people's homes for dinner, although I truly appreciate the gesture, I'd like to use one of my precious days off from work wallowing in my own self-pity. :p (I don't really do that, but I do like to slob out in my PJ's and do nothing all day!)

I want my mum. :(

I don’t know about that. I love being a dad that’s for sure. By the time he is a teen I’m sure I will be the root of all that is evil.

Nah....as long as you keep in his life - take him surfing, etc..he should be fine.

Now, if you have a girl, that's a different story. They turn into the 'bitches from hell' as Deedee calls her 15 year old :rofl::rofl: until they're 18 or so...:rofl:

I have a son and daughter and as much as I love my son, you could not pay me to do down that road twice. He was ...... a challenge. I like him much better now as a grown man. ;) My daughter was and still is a delight. Probably felt sorry for parents dealing with a stroppy brother she had to co-exist with. I swear aliens abducted him at about 14 and placed this identical looking, yet hostile creature in his place to see how far we could be pushed. I think they realized they had better take their alien back and give me back my boy before he got wiped off the planet. Just like that, one day he decided to show me the lovely young man I remembered. Males.........grrrrrrrrrrrrr.......:curse::p
