Anyone following the Oprah saga?

Anyone following the Oprah saga?
I am impressed with Oprah and her personal commitment and genuine concerns to sort out the school that she donated to South Africa.
If most of the other handout were managed taking this as an example it would make a he difference.
It seems that even Oprah is on a steep learning curve in dealing with South Africa (or perhaps just Africa).
The latest article in the SA Sunday Times quotes her as saying.
"This has been one of the most devastating experiences of my life," she said.
It a pity that the politicians will not roll out African projects in this fashion of management.

I read about it and then just shrugged. TIA, not the wonderlands of Chicago or Montecito, California.

Another naive American who thinks that, because she happens to have black skin, she has some sort of affinity with Africa.
You don't find Swedes thinking they have some sort of natural affinity with Argentina just because they have white skin, do you?

In line with Governments Policies as related to Population Ethnicity in Fields such as Student selection at University Entrance.
If you have 100 places available at University selection will be race based NOT Merit based.
If the White population is 9.4% of the total SA Population then the the top ten of the white applicants will be chosen.
Of the 78 Black Applicants whose marks may well be lower than the Coloured/Chinese/Asian/White compliment, Applicants will also be weighted
in terms of wether they are likely to succeed if they dont have the requisite points scored in the exams.
What the majority of Whiteand Asian Students are doing is signing up with Accredited Colleges/Unisa and doing 1s/2nd year as correspondence courses as they have more chance of entry at 2/3rd year level because of the high Failure/Attrition rate.

Regardless of all the politics, (can they ever be avoided?) I think it is good that Oprah has actually done something, which is mostly positive.
I believe her heart is in the right place with her intentions.
There are thousands of organisations looking for donations to their charities that all offer graphics of poor starving African children in need of help. There are many churches in Africa that are very wealthy and one that comes to mind in South Africa is Rhema where the pastor’s home was the feature of Style magazine boasting an 8M price tag ( 4 / 5 years ago).
Not too many orgs that actually show you what they have done / doing with their donations.
Let’s face it whether you are black or white in SA private schooling is very expensive so she has built this school to offer a chance to some children.
Even if it is just the concept of what has been attempted I personally think the woman should be admired for her efforts.
