Default Advice needed from British "Swallows"

Hi, myself (UK citizen) and my wife (born in South Africa so is presumably still a citizen by Birth) are currently living in the UK but wish to start spending 5 months of the year in Knysna with her parents.

If there are any Brits on here who are splitting their time between the UK and South Africa we would love to get some advice from you in regard to visas and health insurance.

Specifically, what visas would we need, do we need to re-apply for them every time we visit and also where to get private health insurance to cover this length of time and what the costs are?

Any help would be much appreciated and we'd love to make contact with other Brits spending the winter in Knysna too!

Many thanks.
