Default IAB

Can anyone tell me if IAB is recognised in Australia? I can't seem to find anything. Doing the last year for my diploma and hope to carry on, don't mind if I have to go over to AAT but will be a bit peeved if I have to start again!

Any help will be appreciated.

mm... never heard of IAB?? AAT appears to be wider recognised (in the UK anyway not sure about Australia). If you want to become an accountant in Australia best option is ICAA, their entry requirement is a minimum of a bachelor degree level, best would be to find out from them directly. What exactly are your circumstances? How long have you been studying?

IAB is the sister org of AAT, however AAT is being fased out which is why they are offering a fourth year in IAB to cover costing and other stuff that isn't covered.

Not too bothered about being an accountant at the moment - although it is something i want to do in the future. I am just taking the long route and doing book-keeping first.

I know I will have to back to college once we get over there, just wondered if anyone knows what a similar course is and what my next step would be?

I would say concentrate on getting a qualification which would get you into the ICAA, this may mean to do a degree but will definitely get your career going!

Best of luck

AAT is not being "phased out." It is doing very well, and enjoys support from ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA and CIPFA [not ACCA for reasons known only to themselves, although they do give exemptions to AAT members].

AAT are also becoming established in Australia with the support of all three established Australian accounting bodies - ICAA, CPAA and NIA.

AAT has also developed links with the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.
