Depends on what qualifications/experience you have, and whether you already have Australian (or NZ) citizenship, or a migration visa.

I am CIPFA qualified and my background is as an Accountant. I have some experience in Internal Audit at a Local Authority.

I just wondered what job opportunities are like?

For job opportunities you could try the job websites like http://www.seek.com.au or http://www.mycareer.com.au

Also take a look at the Australian websites of some of the Big Four accounting firms, like http://www.kpmg.com.au or http://www.pwc.com

CIPFA is recognised by the ICAA (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia) for migration purposes, but you won't find that many employers in Australia are familiar with it. If you want to enhance your career prospects in Australia then you should plan to do the CA Program and become an Australian CA after you migrate. http://www.icaa.org.au has the details.

The website http://www.liveinvictoria.vic.gov.au may also be useful to you

Just want to revive this thread. My husband is an IT auditor as well. We'll be moving to Melbourne this July and dead scared as to job hunting. He's got CISSP, CISA and MCSE certifications and currently taking online courses with ACS. Checked out the websites mentioned and indeed, there are many job opportunities. But w/o local experience, how can one compete and end a good job in Melbourne? Do you know of reputable recruitment agencies who can be of big help or is it normal to just walk in and hand over your CVs?
Looking forward to hearing from you guys. Many thanks in advanced.

Cheers,
Hannah

I'd also take a look at http://www.iia.asn.au

I got an auditing job in Sydney through Think Global recruitment agency. They are based in the UK but have just opened an office in Sydney. Can highly recommend them.
