ACMA to CPA (US)
Hi,
I am a CIMA qualified accountant living in the USA (MA). As it looks like I will be staying here for the foreseeable future I am considering obtaining the CPA designation to become more marketable.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how to go about this? Is there a quick(er) route for someone with the ACMA designation? Do I have to sit the uniform CPA exam or is there an MRA out there?
Thanks,
Mat

You should expect to have to sit the CPA exam. Also, you will need to show that your existing qualifications meet the educational standard.
Note that the CPA is state-based. Although the exam is the same nationwide, the education and experience requirements may differ slightly.

No surprise. So as a qual accountant of 30 years I would have to do whole exam. Says only 14 hours of exams. My uk one was 48 so I'm guessing it's easier and quicker. How long should it take to study for? Also what sort of salary is commanded? Jobs I've seen are much lower paid than uk but then housing is a quarter of cost here so I guess equals out. My partner has to live there for a few years in case people wondering why I'm asking. I've spent a lot of time in Las Vegas. Property so cheap there would prob choose there to live.
