Does the uni have exchange programs with uni's in the US?

I know Brunel does with San Fran, on the design courses as a few mates did that and another mate who wanted to go to another uni that wasn't in the program made contact himself and they arranged a 6 month semester exchange.

Thanks for that information! I will definitely bring this up with my University to see if it is possible. I do Business which is obviously pretty common so it shouldn't be that difficult to arrange. I just don't want to pay American fees as I desperately can't afford it.

+1 or if you can afford it or can get a scholarship, some do their post graduate degree at a US university (F-1 visa) and then are eligible for 1 year OPT (Optional Practical Training) and possibly network to find a permanent job on a H-1B visa.

But the most common way that someone meets their future spouse is by internet dating.

Moving to America isn't going to fix your problems. Despite you not realising it, your problems are far closer to home than you would like to acknowledge.

'Living' in the US tells you nothing about what it would be like to actually emigrate here IMO. Start to sort your life out in England and stop blaming your depression on the country you live in. Once you acknowledge that America isn't the solution to fix your depression, you can start to feel better about yourself.

I wish you luck.

You're right, it is weird but accurate. It's why I'm a worn out old husk even though I'm only in my early sixties. They've run me ragged.

The US doesn't have great youth exchange programs, but Australia, Canada and NZ all have working holiday visas. You should explore getting those, assuming that your accounting career can wait.

Given your age, this sounds more like an issue of being tired of your circle at home. Perhaps being in a different place where you can reinvent yourself, irrespective of where it is, would do you some good.

I find that English people bond over negativity and I no longer want to be negative about everything.

I am setting in place a 10 year plan to get into America. I do realise that I am lucky that I live in a country with Universities/Corporations that can make that possible.

I did write the OP in rage after coming home to an empty house after being talked to like crap for no reason by a complete dick head (but I suppose you get them everywhere haha).
Sad, but true. The English become friends with people who have common complaints, while Americans become friends with people who share common likes and interests. And Americans seem to like everything.

Your biggest problem is that you were comparing living in the UK with being on holiday in the USA, a totally unfair comparison. You really need to look at threads on here that talk about the logistics of LIVING in the USA, very few days off, expensive health cover, even gettin health insurance through the work you do, not everything is covered so you do have to pay something EVERY TIME. Housing may seem cheap, but there are a lot of taxes, and they vary from place to place. You would never be living too far from a gun nut, who could just kick off at any time, nowhere is safe from them.
Your bets bet if you really want to get over there is to find a US girlfriend get engaged and then get over there with her sponsorship, quite a few people on here who live in the US have done just that.

Massive overgeneralisation anybody?!

I'm a Brit, and can't stand negative people, so will go out of my way to avoid the 'moaning Minnie's' as I call them. I don't know anybody that would be friends with someone that doesn't share their interests but that does share complaints.

Anyway, it's 7.30am, it's 24 degrees already and I've just sat in the garden with the sun glistening on the pond and watching the deer in the field. I'm looking forward to another day of setting up my business, a few hours work, brunch with friends (that DON'T moan!), time with my kids after school and dinner out with more great friends (ditto the above). Positive enough for you?!

"Americans seem to like everything"?

What does that even mean?
