Default Car insurance when returning to the UK

For those who have returned to the UK, is obtaining UK car insurance again, quite easy?

We are moving back from Canada in the summer after one year and it was really involved getting relevant letters to have insurance in Canada??

You shouldn't have much of a problem once you become a resident of the UK. A few months ago I called around many insurance companies and everything thing went well until I told them I wasn't a UK resident and would only be in the UK for a few months each year. I'd forgotten how cheap British car insurance is.

I had no trouble getting car insurance, even after 30 years out of the country. In order to get the full no-claims bonus had to produce a letter from my old insurance company.

I had no problems and didn't even get a no claims certificate from my overseas insurer. I used my ten years plus no claim discount from the UK before I went, it is good for two years and I bought my car a few months before I moved back.
