Default English guy looking for USA sponsor

Hi all,

New to forums and looking for some advice please.
I have been looking at some jobs online based in the USA and was wondering if I have any hope of obtaining a sponsored visa?
I am 28 have 11 GCSE's, 1 A Level, NVQ level 2 in hospitality and management and I have recently been certificated in leadership and management.
Work experience is as follows: 6 years retail management and 4 years in local government as a benefits assessor.
I have generally been looking at jobs in retail management and admin roles.
Do I have any chance of sponsorship or does anybody know of a company who would like to employ a Brit with experience, passion and a willingness to progress? I can send a CV if anyone's interested!
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Does any of this apply to you?

Looking at your 2 other posts, do you want to move to the US or Canada or Australia?

You probably will not find an employer willing or able to sponsor you for these types of jobs.

In general, the job itself must require a degree, and you must have either the relevent degree or suitable years of experience in lieu of a degree (3 years of experience per missing year of degree).

Since most retail management and general admin roles do not require a degree, it will be difficult for you.

Even if you find a position like that which does require a degree, a US employer will most likely not pay the thousands of dollars it takes to hire a foreign worker, when there are tons of unemployed USCs who qualify.

The countries specified are the places I would like to live/work.
In my eyes I have specialist skills just because of the length of time I've had experience in the lines of work I'm looking at.

You haven't written anything to suggest you would have an immigration path to live and work in the USA on the basis of your educational and work skills.

Can you expand a little on your specialist skills? What are you bringing to the table that a USC would not have?

I don't think your 4 years as a UK government benefits assessor will be very helpful in the USA, as the systems are so different.

I suppose my knowledge of different types of leadership and management and how to make a work place more efficient and effective etc this is all through the extra courses I have done and the experience I have in retail and within the benefits environment. My benefits knowledge and skills could also be transferable.

Unfortunately, this doesn't sound like something more special than a USC might have.

The problem is getting an employer to really want YOU, specifically, over hiring a local USC for the job. It will cost the employer thousands of dollars to hire you (assuming the job and you even qualify for a visa). In this economy, that's not likely to happen...especially with admin or retail management.

Having done exactly this job myself, I 100% agree with this.

Ditto!

Without a degree or a minimum of 12yrs progressive experience in the same industry related to the job you would be sponsored for you, you aren't even eligible for a work visa (H1B anyway).

Maybe if it's something you really want you should look at a long term plan, such as getting a degree, a job with offices in both the UK and US that you could work your way up to a position with a chance of transferring to the US....etc.

The difficulty of getting a work based visa for the US should not be underestimated.

You shouldn't suppose anything. You should be able to say definitively! Good luck.
