40 years ago my friend and I went to the rifle range to check out the rifles we'd bought (Colombian marked FN Mauser copies) and there were about 10 or so police there having one of their first practices as the newly formed SWAT team. They shot up a lot of targets (I put one out at 400 yds so I could see how their sniper was hitting), the M-16 was impressive, etc, so I asked them who the heck they were. The man told me it was all because of some nut in Calgary who had constructed a bunker in his garage, sandbagging the oil change pit, heavily arming himself and held out there. The police couldn't get near him so they had to borrow an APC from CFB Calgary and drive right over him to get him out of there. And that's how the SWAT team came to Regina.
