Yes, they are also good about opening up more tills, so the queues move along smartly. But the mass of people in the aisles is irritating. I can go in our gigantic Stop&Shop any time before 11 am, and it's so empty that I can be in & out in half an hour, even though S&S is much larger than TJ. Also, S&S has self-checkouts and TJ doesn't.

However, I do like TJ a lot. They're not so huge as other supermarkets, the help is intelligent and pleasant, the selection is somewhat healthier (or at least seems to be), and they have decent British items at times. I just wish other people didn't like it so much too.....

How about saying names completely wrong?

Was about a month before my wife realised it was Jewel Osco and not Jewel Oscar.

I personally prefer to say "sivis" because CVS is just too much work.

I vaguely remember a TV sketch show that had a regular spot where some guy would mispronounce stuff like that. I want to say the best one was when they rang up an HMV store asking about a DVD.

"Is that humv? I am looking for a doved"

Ok it might be this show http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fonejacker
But that doesn't make sense because that aired after I left the UK. I must have seen a clip somewhere or perhaps I saw it when it was piloted on Comedy Lab.

Yea it's fonejacker. The one where he's talking about an ibim pook (IBM PC) is gold. George is great too.

You probably saw it on youtube or facebook or something.

99% of people reading this are going to be saying 'WTF is Jewel Osco' anyway

We just call that Jewel. Not Jewels, of course ...

A grocery store. Unknown outside of the Chicago area, North/Central Illinois, NW Indiana and a small portion of eastern Iowa, hence the WTF
