Had a delivery delayed today. Called Amazon to complain and they gave me a 1 month free prime extension before I even really started.

Shut me up, will wait for tomorrow.

We've placed a couple of orders recently, on the 5-8 day delivery, where the items have been in stock but have not been shipped until close to the final expected delivery date, and they have ended up arriving late.

Haven't seen it either, but considering how poorly their delivery partners (UPS, Fedex, Canada Post, Purolator and whatever company they use for AMZN delivery) track and update, not sure it would work here....

The article says it was implemented before Amazon bought them.

Amazon in Austin have employed local drivers to deliver packages so it's quick but awful service now. 2/3 times a week I now get a parcel meant for a neighbour and they tend to get mine. Luckily we live in a nice neighbourhood.

Their uk service is great - especially their 2 hour service for common items - order to door in 2 hours is impressive...

I once had a same day postponed till early am next day but that wass aweful weather.

We often get Amazon packages to the wrong address. Also lucky to live in a nice neighborhood. I end up factoring the delivery into a dog walk.

I had read about the 1 month free Prime but there was no mention of that when I emailed them on Wednesday. I will follow up and see if they offer a free month.

I believe this is what they are doing. The other non-prime item I ordered was shipped Monday and arrived Tuesday. I think they are relying on an expectation of overnight delivery and delaying shipment accordingly. In this case, the weather caught them out.

Well so far we have refused to pay for Prime as we don't buy enough to justify it, and don't tend to need the items we do order that urgently. They seem to be increasing the number of items that are only available to Prime members, but I've often found those cheaper elsewhere so again it's not worth it. Also they refuse to deliver anything remotely electrical to a PO Box and don't recognise our street address so our need for them is declining.

Prime let me down the first time this latest order. Was supposed to arrive today, I assume it’s coming today.

The article also comes from Business Insider which isn't really much more than an online gossip column. I certainly haven't seen any evidence of this on my occasional visits to the local Whole Foods.

After another follow-up email to Amazon, I received a very lengthy response apologizing and explaining in great detail why a delivery may be delayed. Blah blah blah!

And 1 month free Prime membership.

Back when I used the '5-8 day free shipping', it was anybody's guess when the packages would actually arrive. Recently we realised that I could be an add-on to my wife's Prime account and now I can take advantage of the two day shipping, and not have to try to find enough items to make a cart value threshold for free shipping

That being said, while we're usually bang on 2 days (often 1) for shipping, they did manage to lose one of my packages just after Christmas. I was able to get a free replacement sent out, which itself arrived within 2 days, but that was a new one for me.
