Default North West Phuket - Restaurant Recommendations?

Hi,

My wife and I will be visiting North West Phuket next month, staying between Bangtao Bay and Mai Khao Beach. I’m researching some restaurants for dinner – I’m looking for two or three special nights out as well as more standard fare. We’ll have a car, but want to stay in the North West area. Particularly looking for Thai and good European cuisine.

Please can someone advise on the following restaurants (Definitely Go, Go, Avoid…etc), and add any more recommendations. Many thanks in advance.

Cinnamon, Mai Khao Beach
Bangtao area:
Dedos
The Bistro Bangtao
Black Cat
Ceramic Kitchen
360 Degrees
Tatonka
Siam Supper Club

Its a while since we were there but the Marriott had a very nice Italian restaurant called Cucina. Usually need to book from memory but I would assume it is open to non residents.
The Black Cat last time I was there was very basic roadside place but with reasonably cheap food.
( 3 years ago since we went though others may have more updated news)
Sea Food is easy in Phuket but to be a bit Special the Marriott's Outside Seafood place was very nice too
neither will be cheap of course but good for 'special diners'
There was a seafood place in the North part of Patong more reasonable 'market style' called the Savoey but I see has mixed reviews now........
Sorry no up to date news but the Marriott should be a safe bet.

Hi Poolie,

Many thanks for this. I do like a good Italian! Here on Penang Island there's only about three decent ones that I know of, so Cucina's definitely now on my Phuket probable list.

Not really answering your question but...noted that you will have a car. Do check out the north-east side of the island. It is totally different to the west. Very peaceful and beautiful and hardly a bar in sight. Right on the edge of Phang Nga bay. There used to be boat trips from Ao Po marina...might be worth checking out (if you like boat trips).

A couple of my pics below... Ao Po marina and edge of Phang Nga bay. We used to have our boat berthed at Ao Po. Some good memories from there.

Bang Tao good choice for a holiday. Cape Panwa is also really nice and a bit up-market (ex PM used to holiday there so cannot be bad) but it's a bit of a bat down the island. Would probably take you an hour's drive.

Enjoy the meal BB and have a few ...........

Luckily we had some clearer air here today so it has been hedge trimming and general gardening followed by some left over chicken curry. This all brings on a thirst

I think there is a John Gray Sea Canoe trip from the NE side. We went had a canoe for the two younger Poolies and one for Mrs Poolie and myself.
A truly wonderful day out going into sea caves and ending up in a hole in the island............
No need to paddle either as each canoe has a guide t do the work if you wish. All meals included and great value.

John Gray's Seacanoe Thailand, Sea Kayaking in Thailand, Vietnam, Timor, Fiji, Philippines and Hawaii since 1983.
