Re: A word a day?
Well, I’ve been feeling pretty guilty for not having added anything for a few days, but it’s been a busy time!
Anyway, here are a few things I’ve picked up along the way:
De momento At the moment
Ahora mismo Right now
Ya se ha ido He’s gone now (could also be she’s gone, or it’s gone)
Ayer se fue He went yesterday (could also be she / it went)
Una mariposa A butterfly
Una grulla A crane (of the bird variety!)
Una ampolla A blister
Botas nuevas New boots (are you getting the connection here!?)
Un obispo A Bishop (of the clergy variety!)
Great excitement in the village yesterday, when the Bishop visited
Un muro se ha caído A wall has fallen down
Una tubería está roto A tube is broken
¡No hay agua! There’s no water! (are you getting the connection here, too!?)
Un pregón An announcement (i.e by loudspeaker, from the Ayuntamiento)
Like the one I slept through yesterday, and then wondered why there was no electricity all morning!
There, told you it had been a busy time!
One useful little “aide memoire” that I’ve recently been told:
You know those frustrating reflexive verbs!? Well, I can never remember which comes first, the “se” or the “me” part!
If you remember that a “semana” (week) comes before a “mes” (month) then you’ve got them in the right order!
i.e Lo se me olvidado I’ve forgotten
Anyway, here are a few things I’ve picked up along the way:

Glad to help Chris!
I was quite amazed that I even understood the tip (explained to me in Spanish) and amazingly it seems to have stayed in my head too!
I get tied up in knots with reflexive verbs and the various past tenses
Maybe in a few years it'll all come together, eh??
